Indian Public Broadcaster Doordarshan has launched a free DVB-T2 mobile TV service in 16 cities, aimed at the increasing number of smartphones in India. The service was officially launched on February 25 in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai, Guwahati, Patna, Ranchi, Cuttack, Lucknow, Jalandhar, Raipur, Indore, Aurangabad, Bhopal, Bangalore and Ahmedabad. Mobile TV can be received in and around these cities using DVB-T2 dongles in OTG enabled smartphones and tablets, wifi dongles and TV sets with integrated DVB-T2 tuners. Read More

Following the retirement of Nick Wells as Chair of the TM in September of last year, a new team has taken over the TM. Kevin Murray was elected his successor in October 2015. At the same time Muriel Deschanel, who served as Vice Chair of the TM for over three years, announced that she would be vacating the position. Then, following a ‘Call for Candidates’ in January, the TM has elected Alexander Adolf and Alberto Morello as Vice Chairs of the Module. Read More

DVB will foster the formation of a licensing program covering patents essential to the DVB-S2X specification. The initial meeting of holders of DVB-S2X technology will take place on Wednesday, 25 March, at 14:00 in the Hilton Copenhagen Airport Hotel, directly following the DVB World Conference.
