Friday 12 September

Bring your questions to our rotating panel of DVB-I experts including Paul Higgs (TM-I Chair), Peter Lanigan (CM-I Chair), Ranjeet Kaur (CM-I-ITF Chair) and representatives of several ongoing trials.

Explore the DVB Native IP (DVB-NIP) standard and how it is enabling innovative, IP-native delivery models across industries. This session is hosted in collaboration with ST Engineering iDirect.

Featuring an introduction from Emily Dubs, DVB Head of Technology, followed by use case presentations from Ignacio Gonzalez Nunez of Eutelsat, Steve Bisenius of SES, and Bart Van Utterbeeck of ST Engineering iDirect.

A new Study Mission, led by Mohammed Raad (Unified Streaming), has begun examining use cases for media provenance and authenticity technology that are relevant for DVB systems. The use cases will include both live and on-demand content delivery.

Catch up with old friends and make new connections within the wider DVB family. Join our traditional DVB DRINKS gathering on the opening day of IBC2025, from 17:00 to 19:00.


Saturday 13 September

Bring your questions to our rotating panel of DVB-I experts including Paul Higgs (TM-I Chair), Peter Lanigan (CM-I Chair), Ranjeet Kaur (CM-I-ITF Chair) and representatives of several ongoing trials.

With DVB’s technical working group for Targeted Advertising, TM-TA, having a new Chair, John Bartlett (BCi Digital), activity around the DVB-TA specs is set to intensify. He will host this meetup along with CM-TA Chair Angelo Pettazzi (Kineton).

This is an opportunity to discuss the current status and future direction of DVB’s work in the growing area of addressable advertising.

Andreas Tai (SWR), who chairs the working group developing DVB’s accessibility guidelines, will host this meetup. It will include a short presentation on the ongoing work within DVB followed by a discussion on potential future work.

14:00-14:20 DVB, DVB-I, and next gen TV developments in China

  • Elfed Howells interviews Yao Wang, Jianhua Zheng and Alan Liang on the ongoing DVB and DVB-I verification tests, plans and investigations ongoing in China, as well as China’s plans for the next generation of their TV services

14:20- 14:30 DVB-I trials Mini-STB

  • Jianhua Zheng and Alan Liang will present the DVB-I mini-STB that has been developed in China in conjunction with Bohua and Skyworth to support worldwide trials of DVB-I.

14:30-14:50 DVB and DVB-I China outreach group social meet-up

  • a chance for the DVB PCM’s China outreach and support group to meet face to face and discuss the ongoing 16-steps to DVB-I execution plan, and have some offline 1:1 conversations about opportunities to collaborate – open to all!

Ranjeet Kaur (DTG), who chairs the DVB-I Implementers Task Force, will lead this meetup that will include an update on the group’s current focus areas. Anyone involved with or interested in trials and pilots of DVB-I is invited to join.

Vincent Grivet, who chairs the HbbTV Association, will be present to provide an update of the latest developments on HbbTV, both in terms of the specifications and market deployments.


Sunday 14 September

How to stream ‘over the top’ with DVB is a question our experts Mohammed Raad (Chair of the TM-STREAM working group) and Guillaume Bichot (Co-chair of the TM-MCAST working group) will tackle during this session. After a quick overview of the answer – where you can be sure DVB-DASH and DVB Multicast ABR will be prominent – they will proceed with a Q&A around the whiteboard.

Building on recent articles in DVB Scene magazine, a session to discuss how DVB-I service discovery and DVB-T2 (through Future Extension Frames) can support the launch of 5G Broadcast services.

The session will be led by Thomas Stockhammer.

A dedicated session for competition participants – and anyone interested in following their progress – to connect, exchange ideas, and get advice. Matthew Huntington (Secretary to the DVB Steering Board) will host the meetup.

This session will explore how satellite operators are using DVB-I to enhance service visibility and user experience. Arne Redl (SES) and Ralph Edeine (EUTELSAT ) will present their latest contributions to the standard and demonstrate its implementation in satellite receivers (IDTV/STB). They will also announce joint guidelines of implementation for broadcasting and installing DVB-I service lists over the air, eliminating the need for an internet connection.

An update on lessons learned regarding the use of HbbTV in conjunction with DVB-I services in the context of the ongoing RTI-Mediaset DVB-I proof of concept. Find more information in the September 2025 issue of DVB Scene magazine.

The session will be led by Stefano Braghieri (RTI-Mediaset) and will include input from Paolo Ferrara (Fincons Group).
