Following a public consultation in December 2011, the Indonesian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology is expected to publish a request for tender for new digital television broadcasting equipment in the first quarter of 2012. DVB Work on CI Plus V1.4 to Start

Following the Steering Board approval of the Commercial Requirements for CI Plus v1.4 and an agreement with the CI Plus LLP, DVB will now start its technical work on the updated specification. These Commercial Requirements build on top of the current CI Plus v1.3 specification with two main features: support for dual-stream operation with a single module, intended for a dual-tuner PVR host, and support for DRM protected IP- delivered content. Other features include CI Plus browser extensions, additional URI (Uniform Resource Identifiers) signalling, and extensions and clarifications for module applications running on host middleware. EBU WRC-12 Workshop: What Next for DTT?

The World Radiocommunications Conference (WRC-12) at the ITU has concluded, having set a course for a second digital dividend, i.e. the allocation of the 700 MHz band to mobile services. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) Strategic Programme on Spectrum Management is organizing a workshop to explain the conference decisions, explore the consequences for Digital Terrestrial Television, such as DVB-T and DVB-T2, and identify objectives to be achieved to sustain a viable terrestrial broadcasting platform. The broadcast community is invited to participate in the workshop, to share its views and concerns, and jointly identify actions to be taken and the associated timeline. Read More
