Following announcements about the license fees for MHP essential patents made at DVB World 2006, DVB has urged Via Licensing to take account of the concerns expressed by MHP adopters. Modeo, formerly known as Crown Castle Mobile Media, announced today that it will begin rolling out DVB-H services in the top 30 markets across the USA this year. The service is previewed at a trade show in Las Vegas this week on devices from a number of manufacturers, including Motorola and Nokia. 2006 will also see the launch of DVB-H services in Italy. Leading mobile entertainment industry analysts, including Frost & Sullivan and IDC, project the mobile video market will exceed $1.5 billion by 2009. Read More
The award of a license to build and operate a DVB-H network to Digita sees Finland join Italy and the USA in the race to be the first to launch a full commercial deployment of the technology. Read More
In a press release issued today, DVB welcomed last week's adoption of DVB-T by Panama. Similar decisions were made by Uruguay and Colombia in the last two years, with all three countries citing the flexibility of the standard and its widespread deployment as key factors.
