DVB-TTML subtitling test streams

The streams below allow the testing of TTML subtitles according to the DVB-TTML Subtitling Systems specification (EN 303 560 V1.1.1), including with regard to downloadable fonts. Further information is provided in the README file found in each archive.

The streams were created and originally published by IRT – Institut für Rundfunktechnik GmbH. With the liquidation of IRT, the streams were formally contributed to the DVB Project for future publication and distribution.

DVB makes these streams available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. This means you can freely reuse and distribute this content, including commercially, as long as attribution is provided. You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.

This test stream package can be used to test TTML subtitles according to the DVB-TTML Subtitling Systems specification (EN 303 560 V1.1.1).

The test stream is a DVB compliant MPEG-TS and contains a single HEVC DTV service with the following general parameters:

  • Video: HEVC, 1080p/50, BT.709, Main 10
  • Audio: AAC-LC, LATM, 48kHz, 5.1

The TS is compliant to ETSI TR 101 290.

The service also includes four subtitle components in order to test different ways of encoding TTML subtitles.
