UPC starts DTT trial

UPC Czech has begun a DTT trial in Prague, reports Broadband TV News.
The eventual aim of UPC is to offer its subscribers the must-carry channels on the countries 1st and 2nd multiplexes. The channels are CT services and TV Nova, Prima TV, Barrandov, Nova Cinema and Prima Cool. They will be offered for no additional fee.
The new DTT service will cover the whole of Prague by the end of July and will then be extended to other cities including Brno, Liberec and Ostrava.
The coverage target is 60-70% of the Czech Republic’s 4 million TV homes that already have a second TV set and would like to receive basic digital channels free of charge.
