Switch to digital TV completed


The Czech Republic completed the transition to digital terrestrial TV broadcasting with the conversion of the last digital transmitters at Tlusta hora and Plostiny in the Zlin region, on the 4th November.
DTT signals are currently available to 99.6%of population. Three digital multiplexes offer eleven TV channels and nine radio stations.
During the period from 2008 to November 2011 Radiokomunikace installed a total 69 digital TV transmitters and 100 repeaters.
The completion of the project which uses DVB-T will be followed by the next stage in DTT development which is the implementation and development of the follow-up system DVB-T2, to enable efficient HDTV broadcasting. The company will be ready to bring the Summer Olympic Games 2012 in higher picture quality, it said.
