The conference programme for DVB World 2025, scheduled for 18–19 March in Munich, Germany, has been published. While the event runs across two days, the conference sessions will run on the opening afternoon, with the second day offering – for the fourth year in a row – an unconference format that encourages participants to explore topics of their choice through collaborative discussions.
Promising “conversations that matter on the future of media delivery”, the conference agenda is this year focused on business and regulatory aspects of DVB-based services. Presentations and discussions will cover the impact of media platforms on traditional TV business models, the role of international standards in fostering innovation, the economics of live content distribution in the streaming era, and emerging trends in media consumption.
Four keynotes
Following a welcome address by DVB’s Chair Remo Vogel, the conference will kick off with four short keynote presentations. Carine Chardon, Managing Director Consumer Electronics at ZVEI, will discuss how CE vendor business models are likely to evolve, taking both local and global forces into account. Wen Gao, Chairman of the AVS Standard Workgroup, will examine the rise of IP-based platforms in China, the regulatory challenges that accompany this, and the role of the family of AVS standards in both domestic and global media frameworks.

Richard Lindsay-Davies, CEO of the Digital TV Group, will highlight key questions for the future of media regulation, while Xavier Leclercq, Vice President of Business Development at Broadpeak, will explain why he believes we must rethink the economics of live content distribution in the streaming era.
TV business models
Also on the conference agenda: industry analysts Ed Barton from Caretta Research and Ophélie Boucaud from Dataxis will share data-driven insights on current market trends. This will be followed by a session titled “Future-proofing free TV – the emerging platforms”, featuring updates on the UK’s Freely platform, DVB-I in Germany, and Eutelsat’s Sat.tv Connect offer. Following a round-up of other DVB-I projects, the panel will examine the challenges and opportunities for these emerging platforms.
The focus then turns to subscription-based models. Industry analyst Matthew Huntington will present his insights on the enduring effects of SVOD on the television industry’s economics. These views will then be critically examined and discussed by a panel of industry stakeholders.
The penultimate session will look at mobile TV, including an update on the latest 5G Broadcast trials and a discussion on what it will take for mobile TV to move beyond the starting blocks. This will be followed by a session titled “Global Briefing”, providing an update on the roll-out of new technologies in the USA, the Caribbean, Brazil, India, and elsewhere.

DVB World 2025 will provide a dynamic platform for industry professionals to engage with the latest developments in media delivery.
