Spain likes Mobile TV

Spanish users, with Mobile TV enabled handsets, spend 20-40 minutes a day watching TV on the current 3G services according to a report attributed to Abertis Telecom.
Users spent an average of €6 a month on their 3G service, a service which is said to give lower quality pictures than are expected to be available from future DVB-H offerings.
Rapid TV News reports that mobile TV hasn’t developed as expected in Spain because the Telco’s haven’t invested sufficiently in 3G networks. The DVB-H broadcasting option (that is the proposed free option) could solve this problem because it means direct transmissions from the operators to users handsets. Critical to this method is agreement being reached among broadcasters, TV channels, mobile operators and manufacturers.
