Satellite distribution of DTT agreed

Spain’s national public broadcaster RTVE has signed an agreement with broadcast network operator Abertis to distribute RTVE’s DTT service by satellite.
The agreement will allow the 1.5% of the population estimated not to be able to receive DTT terrestrial services directly, to obtain them from satellite.
This agreement will enable the reuse of the RTVE encrypted TV signals, which have previously been distributed to Spanish regions via satellite.
It is likely that another satellite platform will be used in future, with the encryption removed to make it a free to air service.
