Sardinia to complete digital switchover in March 2008


The complete switchover from analogue to digital TV is set to take place in March 2008 according to Broadband TV News.
Italy’s communication minister Paulo Gentiloni is reported to have made the announcement recently and went on to say that the Government had three priorities, the opening of frequencies, the production of new programmes and giving preference to local TV channels.
Gentiloni said that DTT was being watched by 2-3% of the Italian population and by 45% of the population in the Cagliari area of Sardinia.
