RTL starts Pay-DTT service

The new terrestrial platform to be launched on DTT by RTL is a joint operation with Eutelsat Visavision and is to be called Viseo plus. The service is planned to start on the 15th October in the Stuttgart area and in early December in the cities of Leipzig and Halle in the eastern part of the country.
RTL channels, RTL, Vox, RTL II, Super RTL, RTL Crime and RTL Passion will be available on the Conax encrypted network and coded in MPEG-4, H.264.AVC.
Smart cards can be enabled for a total viewing period of 12 months, after which a subscription fee of €2.99 a month will be payable for the two pay channels RTL Crime and RTL Passion in the Viseo plus Extra package. The three other RTL channels remain free-to-view.
