Revised ASO plan announced


The Ministry of Communications has issued a revised schedule for the switch off of analogue services during 2009 which includes some delays.
In total five regions will switch off analogue services during 2009.
The new dates for ASO are from the 24th September to the 9th October in western Piedmont and from the 26th October to the 13th November in the Bolzano area.
This will be followed by switch-off in Lazio from 16 to 30 November and in Campania from 1 to 16 December. Switch-off in these two regions will affect the millions of television viewers located in the cities of Rome and Naples.
Analogue switch-off has already been completed in Sardinia and is currently underway in the Valle d’Aosta.
At the end of 2008, a total of 7.6 million households relied upon the DTT platform for their television services, representing 34% of the population.
The Ministry of Communications plans to complete the switch of in all regions including Sicily and Calabria by the second half of 2012
