Pay TV services to be allowed

Le Pais reports that the Government has formally launched the legal process to allow the introduction of Pay-TV services on the DTT platform. The draft law has been presented to the Consejo Asesor de la Telecommunicaciones (CATSI) for approval and will now open a consultation until 11 July.
If the decree is approved Pay-TV services could start as early as mid-July. Each broadcaster on the DTT platform would be allowed a single Pay-TV service.
Objections to the legal changes have been announced by Cable and Satellite Pay-TV operators.
