Panasonic Signs OCAP Agreement With CableLabs

In a further sign of progress towards the goal of a common delivery system for interactive television in the US cable market, Panasonic has become the latest company to enter into a licensing agreement with CableLabs for the implementation of OCAP.

Panasonic is the third major CE vendor to enter into such an agreement following similar announcements over the last few months from Samsung and LG Electronics. The agreements will allow all three companies to implement the OCAP middleware platform on its cable-ready digital TVs, set-top boxes and other interactive products.
