More than half of Italians to be digital in two years


Presenting the yearly report of the Italian Communication Authority Agcom, the authorities President, Corrado Calabro said that half the Italian population could be ‘digital only’ in two years. He went on to say that the winners of the tender for the 40% of the countries DTT multiplex capacity, released by RAI, Mediaset and Telecom Italia Media would soon be made public. In all there had been 25 bids presented by 18 companies many of them foreign.
Figures in the Agcom report show that more than half the Italian population (54.3%) are already equipped to receive digital programmes either from satellite or terrestrial transmitters.
