More DVB-H services possible
German media authorities are to decide by mid-March on re-launching DVB-H services.
Before the tender for a 10 year platform licence is released the authorities are asking for interested parties to register this interest with them by the end of February.
Rapid TV News added this quote from ZAK on their website “We have always stressed that only concrete declarations of interest can open the door for a new launch of DVB-H,” ZAK chairman Thomas Langheinrich said in Stuttgart. “This means that interested parties must have reached preliminary agreements with DVB-H network operators, broadcasters and mobile network operators clearly describing how the planned collaboration would be realised and how much strain the economic side can take. A system which is not financially viable will not be able to contribute to variety.”
