KDG to use DVB-C2


The chairman of the DVB-C2 technical module and the head of new technologies at Kabel Deutschland, Christoph Schaaf, said, during his presentation at the DVB World 2010 conference ,that his company plans to switch to the new DVB-C2 transmission on their cable system.
DVB-C2 allows bandwidth savings of at least 30% when compared to DVB-C used today by digital cable platforms. With the new system and MPEG-4 coding it is now possible to fit up to twelve HDTV services in a single 8 MHz channel.
