A webinar that took place on 20 November looked back at the unconference day of DVB World 2025 and demonstrated once again why DVB’s approach goes beyond that of a typical industry event. The session provided an opportunity to review the actions agreed in Munich, check on progress, and ensure that discussions held during the unconference continue to translate into tangible results.

The unconference day – DVB’s fourth time for the format – generated follow-up activity across several work areas. Updates shared during the webinar included:
- the launch of the DVB-I Implementers Task Force, which has since become one of the most active groups within the Project;
- successful completion of a proof-of-concept to show native decryption of encrypted DVB-I services, without relying on HbbTV;
- the development of a complete technical architecture for DVB streaming within the TM-STREAM group (likely to be published as a DVB BlueBook early next year);
- strong community engagement supporting a DVB-I trial in China;
- and renewed communication efforts around DVB’s NGSO specifications.
May of the unconference discussions also generated valuable inputs to DVB’s ongoing strategic work.
Reflecting on the outcomes of both the event and the follow-up webinar, DVB Chair Remo Vogel noted that “the DVB World unconference is exactly the opportunity to use the momentum in the community to cooperate on topics,” emphasizing that the format continues to enable concrete progress between events.
