ITU Workshop on the Future of Television for Asia & Pacific

The ​International Telecommunication Union (ITU) encourages a dialogue among stakeholders in the various regions of the world to discuss the future of television. To this end, following the success of previous events in Switzerland and Colombia, the ITU will hold the Workshop on “The Future of Television for Asia & Pacific” on 23 April 2021, fully virtual.

The aim of the workshop is to discuss the future of television in the region with relevant stakeholders from Asia & Pacific as well as international, covering regulatory and policy frameworks, emerging and convergent ICT Infrastructures and services, as well as user interfaces and accessibility issues. It also provides an opportunity to discuss TV-related regional and international standardization and to share best practices and case studies on cable TV implementations and other new TV services. 

Participation is open to ITU Member States, Sector Members, Associates, ITU Academic Institutions and to any individual from a country which is a member of the ITU and who wishes to contribute to the work.

DVB’s contribution

Session 3 on The Future of Television Delivery Systems will analyse content delivery from different viewpoints (broadband, cable and terrestrial/satellite broadcasting). It will explore the potential new broadcasting applications and 5G broadcast. 

As part of this session, DVB Head of Technology Emily Dubs will speak about “The future of media delivery”.
