EU Commissioner to Keynote DVB World 2008

Viviane Reding, EU Commissioner for Information Society and Media, will present the Keynote Address at DVB World 2008 in Budapest (12-14 March). The Information Society and Media portfolio includes new information technologies such as broadcasting, mobile and Internet technologies.

Commissioner Reding has a long and distinguished career in European politics and has been instrumental in the creation of influential EU policy in the regulation and standardisation of digital communications generally, including the audiovisual sector.

Mrs. Reding’s address will open this year’s DVB World conference, subtitled “Convergence or Divergence?”. It will be followed by a series of Flagship Presentations from high level speakers including the EBU’s new Technical Director, Lieven Vermaele, VP of Emerging Techologies at Warner Bros., Charles Dages, and Prof. Ulrich Reimers, Chair of DVB’s Technical Module. The conference will continue over the following day and a half with sessions on content management, middleware, new broadcast distribution technologies (including DVB-T2) and the combination of TV and Internet Protocol.
