EC approves subsidies for switchover in Soria

The European Commission is to allow the proposed switchover subsidy for the Soria region, which will become the first region in Spain to end analogue transmission when it does so in 2008.
The Spanish government will make 1 million Euros available to help finance 700,000 digital receivers and the conversion of 300,000 collective antennas. Each of the 10,000 inhabitants of Soria can apply for a 60 Euro grant to help towards the purchase of a digital receiver and 15 Euro towards its installation. The receiver can be for either terrestrial, cable or satellite platforms.
