DTT services officially launched in Riga

The first phase of the DTT launch in Latvia has been completed according to a report from Digitag attributed to Lattelecom.
Viewers within a 70km radius of the capital city Riga can now access DTT services. Coverage will be expanded in an additional phase this year and extended to the majority of the country in 2010.
The service uses MPEG-4 compression and a DVB-T transmission to give viewers access to five free-to-air services (LTV1, LTV7, LNT, TV5, and TV3). In addition, Lattelecom is offering a pay-DTT services with up to 30 television programme services.
