DTT receivers sold reach 40 million

The recent DGTVi newsletter states that DTT penetration in Italy has reached 72% of households, with 40 million DTT receivers sold since the launch of services in early 2004.
During September a total of 1.2 million DTT receivers were sold of which approximately 50% were iDTVs, 40% standard STB’s and another 10% MHP enabled STB’s.
Analogue Switch Off (ASO) for another 12 million Italians in eastern Piedmont, Lombardy and the province of Parma and Piacenza took place on the 25th and 26th November.
The Emilia Romagna area will follow with its ASO between the 27th November and the 2nd December and then by Friuli Venezia Giulia between the 3rd and 15th December. The switch over to DTT for this final 2 million households will complete the ASO in Italy.
