DTT launch set for September


According to Witold Kolodziejski, head of the broadcast regulator KRRiT, the first DTT multiplex will launch in September 2009, reports Broadband TV News
The multiplex will be a simulcast of the existing analogue transmissions from TVP1, TVP2, TVP Info, Polsat, TVN, TV4 and TV Puls and available in Warsaw, Zielona Góra, Poznan and Zagan.
The existing plan is for a total of three multiplexes each providing services compressed with MPEG-4 AVC and free-to-air.
A tender for the operation of a second DTT multiplex is expected to be released by the end of January. This new platform will offer four services comprising of one local service and three services selected by the multiplex operator KRRiT.
The public service operator TVP will operate the third multiplex.
Analogue switch off is set to be completed by 31 July 2013.
