Digital TV in nearly 50% of German homes
The number German digital homes reached 17.7 million by the 30th April 2011, close to a 50% milestone, according to research firm AGF/GfK.
Digital homes are defined as those obtaining their TV pictures via digital terrestrial (DVB-T), digital cable (DVB-C), digital satellite DTH (DVB-S/S2) or IPTV.
Of the 35.86 million television homes in the country, 49.4% now watch digital TV, up from 47.8% on the 1st January 2011 and 41.4% as of the 1st January 2010.
