Digital Terrestrial Television in Tunisia


Tunisia has announced that it will extend its on going Pilot DTT transmissions to cover 90% of the country by 2009.
Pilot transmissions first began in 2001 from a 500Watt transmitter located in the centre of Boukornine. The transmissions cover the Greater Tunis area where the experiment has been taking place.

Both the use of MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 are mentioned in associated documents together with the possible transmission of HD, however the final makeup of the extended pilot has yet to be announced.
