Digital Switchover in 2015


According to the Georgian National Communications Commission (GNCC) the country will make the switch to digital services by 2015, reports Digital TV Europe.net.
The change, which will take place in stages across the country and could result in the number of TV channels available increasing to fifty.
The Global Media group, one of the current broadcasters in the country, is expected to launch four new channels, two will be sports networks, GMG Football and GMG Sport and two will be movie channels, GMG Hollywood and Film Gurnami.
“From the spring we will be offering different shows on all channels, talk shows and discussions about Georgia and world sport and film,” said general producer Bidzina Baratashvili.
