DGTVi Recommends introduction of DVB-T2 and HEVC in 2015

The Italian DGTVi association for promoton of terrestrial TV in Italy has recommended to only launch DVB-T2 in Italy once the new HEVC (H265) video compression codec is available. It would be much easier to launch a new digital standard together with a new codec to maximize spectrum efficiency and avoid disrupting the market twice. According to DGTVi It would lead to two new gold and silver T2 labels for receivers in Italy once the first HEVC T2 decoders become available in 2014.
