Cyprus set for Digital TV

Ministers of Communications and Works Nikos Nicolaides and Interior Minister Neoclis Sylikiotis announced at a press conference on Monday, the 7th December, that Cyprus was ready to modernise it’s electronic communication with the introduction of Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) in 2010.
The press conference about the introduction of digital terrestrial television, took place on the occasion of the publication in the Official Gazette of the announcement for the public tender for a second DTT platform.
In July 2008, the Cabinet made the decision to issue two DTT licenses, the first to the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) for public service broadcasting and the second to a platform of private operators through an auction process.
