Commission set up to re-allocate DTT frequencies

Italy’s Communication Authority (AgCom) has set up a commission with the task of selecting independent content suppliers and the national broadcasters that will get access to 40% of the transmission capacity of the multiplexes managed by RAI, Electtronica Industriale and Telecom Media Broadcasting reports
The allocation of the frequencies will be based on criteria decided by AgCom and the Communications Ministry.
Broadcasters allowed to bid for these frequencies include:
– consortiums that are authorised suppliers of national content;
– national analogue broadcasters that have not achieved 80% territorial coverage;
– local analogue broadcasters without a DTT coverage of at least 80% of their viewer base; and,
– content suppliers on the cable or satellite platforms.
