Commission set up to re-allocate DTT frequencies

Italy’s Communication Authority (AgCom) has set up a commission with the task of selecting independent content suppliers and the national broadcasters that will get access to 40% of the transmission capacity of the multiplexes managed by RAI, Electtronica Industriale and Telecom Media Broadcasting reports advanced-television.com.
The allocation of the frequencies will be based on criteria decided by AgCom and the Communications Ministry.
Broadcasters allowed to bid for these frequencies include:
– consortiums that are authorised suppliers of national content;
– national analogue broadcasters that have not achieved 80% territorial coverage;
– local analogue broadcasters without a DTT coverage of at least 80% of their viewer base; and,
– content suppliers on the cable or satellite platforms.
