Analogue switch-off underway
Analogue switch-off by the public service broadcaster STV, began on the 9th March and will be completed in August 2011.
Currently a temporary DTT multiplex covering 90% of the population provides viewers with replacement services for the previous analogue terrestrial television platform.
Two further DTT multiplexes are being deployed. The first multiplex includes services from the public service broadcaster (STV1, STV2, STV3, STV1 HD) and is available to 60% of the population. The second multiplex is for the services of the commercial broadcasters.
Technical parameters for SVT are, 8k, 64QAM, FEC 2/3, GI 1/4, providing a bit rate of 19.91 Mbits/s.
