Analogue switch-off begins as DTT coverage expands

Domazlice will switch of its analogue broadcast services on the 30th June making it the first region in the Czech Republic to do so. The switch-off has been accelerated in this region due to the need to co-ordinate frequencies with Germany. The switchover will also take place soon in Usta nad Labem also because of the need for frequency co-ordination.
DTT signals are already available in Prague, Brno and Ostrava.
The Czech Telecom Office also announced that DTT transmissions will soon start in the towns of Plzen and Pardubice later this year and that HDTV services will not be launched on the DTT platform until adequate free spectrum space is available.
Analogue switch off in the country is planned for completion by October 10th, 2010.
