DVB Scene 62: Looking back and looking forward on DVB’s 30th anniversary

The latest issue of DVB Scene, now available for download (PDF), marks 30 years of the DVB Project. In a wide-ranging interview, DVB chair Peter MacAvock discusses the organization’s role in the wider industry, its continued relevance and his own plans for the future. Also looking ahead, Head of Technology Emily Dubs ponders how DVB’s solutions could take advantage of web3 technologies.

Elsewhere, some key contributors to DVB’s work over the years – Ulrich Reimers, Paul Szucs, Vittoria Mignone, Robin Crossley and Alexander Adolf – each pick a DVB standard that they feel changed the (media) world. David Wood reflects on how the creation of standards has evolved; and the key role of DVB’s IPR policy is highlighted by Georg Nolte and Roberto Dini.

Beyond the birthday celebrations, there are also updates on DVB-I in Italy, Spain and Ireland, DVB-MABR in Italy, optimizing DVB-SIS, and developments in object-based media, plus some snapshots of DVB World 2024.
