DVB Scene 66: Native IP deployments, DVB-I in Australia and NZ, our own Y2K bug

The September 2025 edition of DVB Scene magazine is the perfect pre-reading for this year’s IBC, where the theme for the DVB stand is “TV 2030”. Read up on progress towards DVB-NIP deployment in several parts of the world, including on maritime fleets, plus how the free TV platforms in Australia and New Zealand are exploring DVB-I. There’s also a look at DRM challenges, the combination of HbbTV and DVB-I, how DVB-T2 and 5G Broadcast can share spectrum… and why April 2038 should be on your agenda!

In his invitation to visit the DVB stand at IBC2025 and join in the discussions – not around some far future but the fast approaching horizon of 2030 – DVB’s Chair Remo Vogel focuses on the role of DVB-I (page 5):

“Looking at recent developments in the TV market, one thing is clear: television remains popular, while the streaming market has reached a saturation point. With DVB-I, we have a technology that seamlessly connects both worlds. I strongly encourage streaming tech players who want to expand their business to get in touch with DVB – this is the place to be part of this evolution.”
