DVB-I, Native IP and next generation video codecs on the agenda for ABU DBS workshop

DVB has hosted workshops as part of the ABU’s Digital Broadcasting Symposium* for many years, providing a valuable opportunity to connect with stakeholders in the region, and especially in Southeast Asia. Following a pandemic-enforced break since 2019, we are returning to Kuala Lumpur this year to present a workshop that will cover the latest solutions from the DVB Project.

Workshop programme

On Thursday 9 March, from 11:30 to 13:00, DVB Head of Technology Emily Dubs will be joined by representatives of ENENSYS Technologies, Huawei, NERC DTV and Sofia Digital for a workshop incorporating short presentations, hands-on demonstrations and interactive Q&A sessions.

Ms Dubs will introduce the workshop with a talk on how DVB’s IP-centric solutions enable future-proof media delivery. She will be followed by Mika Kanerva of Sofia Digital, who will explain how to get the most out of DVB-I clients and applications, with an accompanying demonstration.

Colin Prior of ENENSYS Technologies will introduce the company’s DVB-NIP (Native IP Broadcasting) solution. And then Peter Siebert (NERC DTV) and They Kian Seng (Huawei) will present and demonstrate how the combination of DVB-I and next generation video codecs can underpin future media services.

The workshop programme is available here.

Conference session

In addition to leading the workshop, Emily Dubs will also participate in the conference sessions at DBS 2023. She will speak in Session 1 on Tuesday 7 March, with a presentation on “How DVB Native IP enables a converged media delivery ecosystem“, and will moderate Session 11 on Thursday 9 March, on “IP-centric Solutions for Broadcasters”.
