2015 switch to Digital Broadcasting
Nerses Yeritsyan, Minister for the economy, announced that Armenia will complete its switch to digital broadcasting in 2015. He made this comment during a press briefing on the 12th November and went on to confirm that the government had also approved the plan to convert to digital broadcasting.
The first step is to start a public debate, on the subject, at the end of 2009, which will continue until the summer of 2010, after which time it will develop a technical plan, decide on licensing conditions and then change and implement new legislation.
The first phase of digitisation is planned to occur in late 2010 and will start with a pilot HDTV high quality service.
