Broadcaster plans new digital platform


Austrian public broadcaster ORF’s transmission services subsidiary ORS is planning to develop a common platform for the distribution of digital TV services, including HD, by satellite and digital-terrestrial, according to local press. It would facilitate the distribution of free and pay TV and on-demand services via a combination a DVB-T2-based digital-terrestrial platform a digital satellite platform and connected TV.
The company plans to develop a platform on the lines of the HD Plus service developed for Germany by SES Astra. The platform could include premium services and pay-per-view movies.
