ORS to test DVB-T2
The Austrian Broadcasting Service ORS plans to launch the country’s first DVB-T2 trial during the Soccer World Cup this summer. ORS which is 60% owned by the Austrian broadcasting service ORF want to test the technology in Vienna and Graz, according to a report from Rapid TV News.
The item quoted ORS spokesman Michael Weber as confirming the plans, adding that this development was a logical step.
The additional capacity provided by DVB-T2, which uses the same spectrum space as occupied by a DVB-T modulated multiplex, could be used for transmitting multiple HD channels, services which are currently only available via cable, satellite and IPTV in Austria.
