Czech Republic Update
Recent reports attributed to HN and published on the Broadband TV News website have given additional insight on the DTT situation in the country.
The Czech Regional TV Agency head Jaroslav Berka is reported to have said that they intend to start broadcasting on a DTT multiplex within a year.
He was quoted following the award of a ‘compensatory’ licence by the Czech Radio and TV Council (RRTV).
In a separate item Plzen in western Bohemia is said to be on track for analogue switch off at the end of September. Currently 75% of the cities homes receive DTT signals.
Plzen follows Prague, which completed ASO on the 30th April and it will become the second city in the Czech Republic to make the transition.
Additional information also suggests that the future of the third DTT multiplex is in doubt because the music channel Ocko has decided to withdraw from the DTT platform.
