Analogue Switch Off begins


Public service broadcaster Czech Television (CT) has switched of its analogue channel CT2 in the city of Plzen (Pilsen), reports Broadband TV News. Plzen is located near the German border.
Czech Television together with national transmission company Ceske Radiokomunikace (Cra) has also launched a temporary multiplex covering the West Bohemia region. The multiplex is expected to become permanent when CT and CRa sign an agreement during August.
Analogue switch of is planned for completion in most of the country by the 11th November 2011 followed by the regions of Zlinska and Jesenicka in June 2012.
At present one multiplex provides official DTT services to approximately 40% of the population.
