RTL to launch more pay and free to air DTT services

RTL is to launch DTT services in Halle and Leipzig during the autumn. The licence granted by the media authorities in Saxony-Anhalt and Saxony will allow RTL to broadcast four free to view DTT services as well as two pay-DTT services.
To access the services viewers will need to purchase an STB with MPEG-4 AVC decoding and a smartcard using Conax encryption.
During the first year of service the two pay DTT services will be free of charge after which they will cost €2.90/month
This service offering is similar to the RTL service available in Stuttgart.
