DTT in Indonesia
Indonesia conducted its first DVB-T trial in Jakarta in August 2008.
The trial, operated by public broadcaster TVR1, ran for four months and enabled an examination of the technical parameters necessary to launch a service.
In February 2009 a more extensive DVB trial covering the suburban areas of Jakarta began. This trial will further test technical parameters and in addition test out public opinion and help work out suitable business models for a digital terrestrial service.
The trial, which will last for a year, is being conducted by a consortia formed by TVR1 and the Indonesian telecommunications company PT Telekom. Six broadcasters, SCTV, TransTV, Trans7, ANTV, TVOne and Metro have also joined the consortium.
Full analogue switch off of all radio and TV analogue services will take place in 2018.
