Indonesia likely to adopt DVB-T standard

According to Alexander Rusli, an advisor to the communications minister, the DVB-T standard should be selected in Indonesia. The technology is also expected to be relatively inexpensive to deploy given its widespread adoption in many other markets. Digital Terrestrial television services are expected to begin in 2009 with analogue switch off in 10 years time. The Japanese ISDB system, the Chinese DMB system and the American ATSC systems have all been considered during the previous study and trial programme.
