Digital TV to have 6 million subscribers in 2011
The Dutch digital TV market will grow to over 6 million subscribers in 2011, according to market researcher Telecompaper. In 2010, the market grew 15 percent to 5.44 million subscribers at year-end. By the end of Q4 2010 digital TV had 67.8% of the TV market.
Overall, TV subscriptions in the Netherlands increased to 8.03 million. Cable accounted for 55.3 % of digital TV connections, followed by satellite with 17.3 %, terrestrial with 16.5 % and IPTV with 9.1 %. FTTH had 1.8 % of the digital TV market.
Cable operator Ziggo has 33.2% of the digital TV market, KPN has 22%, cable operator UPC with 16.4 % and satellite TV provider CanalDigitaal has 15.1 %.
