Digitenne DTT to reach 500,000 by year-end

Dutch DTT operator Digitenne will have 500,000 subscribers by the end of the year, according to Baptiest Coopmans, a member of the KPN board, speaking during the National Broadcast Congress. “We are now getting over 25,000 new subscribers a month,” he added.
KPN positions the DTT service as a low cost alternative to cable, offering a free DTT set-top box to new subscribers. Subscription costs €6.95 a month compared with an average €15 for basic cable.
KPN has been working to extend the DTT footprint to the whole country, in the past few months and the new low budget pricing policy is gradually luring budget conscious cable subscribers to the newly available DTT service.
