Draft DSO plan released by Government
A draft Digital Switch Over (DSO) plan has been published by the Ministry of Infrastructure. It calls for the launch of DTT services on the 20th September 2009.
The roll out will progress to more areas from March 2010 and reach full population coverage by the 31st July 2013.
Analogue switch off will begin on the 30th June 2011 and be completed on the 31st July 2013.
The plan also allows 18 months between the launch of DTT and ASO, with assistance given to low income families towards the purchase of DTT receivers.
A technical annex lists the requirements for DTT receivers, which includes, the use of MHP, DVB-SSU and MPEG-4, (H.264, AVC) for both SD and HD services.
The plan was produced by the electronic communications regulator UKE, the broadcast regulator KRRiT and the Ministry of Infrastructure. Comments on the draft plan can be made until the 24th July.
