DTT services to launch in April


Portugal Telecom (PT) has announced plans for a national DTT pilot in 8 to 12 locations throughout the country including Madeira and the Azores, starting on the 29th April.
By the end of 2009 services should reach 80% of the population with full coverage by 2010.
PT holds the licence to operate one free-to-air DTT multiplex which will provide the services of RTP1, RTP, SIC and TVI as well as a new broadcaster.
In addition, PT will also operate five additional DTT multiplexes
Digital switchover is set for completion on the 1st January 2011.
