DTT multiplex licence awarded

Portugal telecom has officially received its licence to operate one free to air multiplex and is expected to launch a service in 2009.
The multiplex will provide five television programme services and include the existing analogue terrestrial platform programmes (RTP 1, RTP 2, SIC, TVI) and one new television service.
An article on Advanced Television.com says that it is also expected that one of the services will be offered in HD but no details have been given as to how this is to be achieved within the single multiplex.
Portugal Telecom has also been allocated the license to operate five commercial multiplexes. Its commercial offer has not yet been announced.
