HD-DTT trial in February

Slovakia’s new DTT platform operated by Towercom will trial HD transmissions in February together with public broadcaster STV. The trial will use the MPEG-4 AVC compression technology rather than MPEG-2 and offer coverage of the Winter Olympics.
One multiplex is currently in operation and two further multiplexes are expected to launch in June.
According to news reports Towercom also plans to launch six new DVB-T transmitters in March.
